On May 21, Davis Malm attorneys Thomas S. Fitzpatrick and Andrew D. Myers presented “Selling in the USA (A Legal Perspective)” to a group of ten startups from Belfast, Northern Ireland. The program, held at WeWork Boston, addressed the legal and regulatory implications of establishing a sales and marketing base in the U.S., as well as corporate governance and trading from a legal perspective.
Mr. Fitzpatrick practices in the Business Law and Litigation areas at Davis Malm. He served as President of the firm from 2009 to 2014. Mr. Fitzpatrick is a trial lawyer focusing primarily on business, corporate, and commercial litigation. He has considerable experience in all manner of business disputes, including litigation and arbitration in corporate, real estate, construction, and shareholder cases. He also advises businesses, corporate fiduciaries, and other stakeholders on matters such as governance, risk management, and business strategy.
Mr. Myers practices in the Business Law area at Davis Malm. He concentrates his practice in the representation of emerging businesses in corporate, finance, and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings, venture capital transactions, and joint ventures. He also handles day-to-day legal matters, such as initial organization, licensing, supply and distribution arrangements, employment arrangements, equity incentive plans, trade secret protection, and Internet commerce agreements. Mr. Myers also represents venture capital firms in early stage and mezzanine financing transactions, and private equity firms in investments, buy-outs and restructurings.
The “Selling in the USA” presentation is part of a larger program designed by Northern Ireland-based Catalyst Inc, to support the selected companies in their efforts to develop scalable business models, and to provide them with on-the-ground resources from a Boston-based network.
