Richard L. Sampson Competes in 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta

On October 21, Davis Malm shareholder Richard L. Sampson, competed in the 53rd Head Of the Charles® Regatta (HOCR) in Boston. Mr. Sampson competed in the Men’s Senior Master Eights [50+] Division, his eight-person boat representing the Cambridge Boat Club, which was the host organization of the annual HOCR. His team finished in fourth place with a time of 15:45.612, having faced competition from several national and international teams, some of which boasted former Olympians and world champions.

In addition to competing, Mr. Sampson also holds various positions within the HOCR. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2006, where he currently serves as a Managing Director, and also serves as a Race Operations Co-Chair.

Mr. Sampson practices in the Intellectual Property area at Davis Malm, assisting clients in obtaining, maintaining, and enforcing patents, trademarks, and copyrights throughout the world. His active patent practice includes providing strategic counseling to clients focused on building patent portfolios, including addressing patent validity, infringement, patentability, and licensing issues, and helping them navigate the complex patent process.

Since its inception in 1965, the Head Of The Charles® Regatta has welcomed the best crew teams to the banks of the Charles River for the world’s largest two-day rowing competition. The event attracts over 11,000 athletes and tens of thousands of spectators. The HOCR is hosted by the Cambridge Boat Club, which was established in 1909 to encourage boating and yachting in Boston.
