On May 10, 2017, Davis Malm shareholder Robert J. Munnelly, Jr., moderated a panel at the 24th Annual New England Energy Conference & Exposition. Mr. Munnelly led a discussion on “The Maturing Retail Market,” which considered the current and future state of the retail electricity market, as well as examined up-and-coming retail products, services, and technologies. Panelists included Marc Hanks, Direct Energy and New England Chair for The Retail Energy Supply Association; Holly Benz, CLEAResult; Chris Hendrix, Wal-Mart; and Anthony Kosior, Yale University. The session was designed to educate industry professionals on the increasing accessibility of innovative retail supply offerings and renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

Mr. Munnelly practices in the Regulatory area at Davis Malm. He has extensive experience with legal, regulatory, and local taxation issues faced by energy, cable television, and telecommunications companies in New England and nationally. Mr. Munnelly’s practice in these areas includes representing companies in all six New England states in obtaining utility commission and local licenses; ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable state, local, and federal laws; advocating for changes in existing regulatory requirements and market design; obtaining approvals or disclosing corporate change transactions and transfers; and supporting permitting and development of renewable and conventional energy projects and installation of communications facilities.

The New England Energy Conference & Exposition is developed by the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA) and the Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES). The event brings together 300+ industry professionals including generation and transmission companies, project developers and operators, utility representatives, load aggregators and end-users, equipment suppliers, finance and legal experts, risk managers, environmental and engineering professionals, commodity traders and wholesalers, as well as government officials and industry regulators. The conference provides informational content through seminar sessions and exhibitor displays. Mr. Munnelly is a member of the NECA Board of Directors.
