On October 22, Davis Malm employment attorneys presented "Navigating Employment Law Issues Between the United States and Canada" to members of the New England-Canada Business Council. The seminar was hosted at Davis Malm, and addressed cross-border employment challenges facing businesses with operations in the United States and Canada. The panelists discussed important issues such as:

  • At-will employment
  • Anti-discrimination laws
  • Restrictive covenants
  • Parental Leave
  • Independent contractors/Consulting agreements
  • Severance pay
  • Litigation damage awards

Panelists will include Davis Malm employment attorneys Lawrence J. Casey, Gary M. Feldman, and Tamsin R. Kaplan, as well as Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP attorneys Hugh A. Christie and Allen V. Craig. Davis Malm attorney Craig D. Levey will also serve as the program's moderator.

The New England-Canada Business Council, Inc. was formed in 1981 to bring together businesses and individuals with an interest in developing economic, business and cultural affairs between New England and Canada.
