On April 28, Davis Malm and shareholder George A. "Tony" Hewett hosted the 5th annual “Celebrating Success” program which this year featured Jim Stergios, Executive Director of the Pioneer Institue; Mirek Vana, Executive Producer at the Berklee College of Music; and a wonderful performance by two Berklee College of Music students, singer/songwriter Callie Huber as well as singer/guitarist Nigel Tay.

Attendees included George Schwartz, newly elected President of the Boston Private Bank & Trust Company, and representatives from Eastern Bank, Citizens Bank, Bank of America, Radius Bank, US Trust, SCS Financial, and the Pioneer Institute.

“We are delighted to highlight the state of education in Massachusetts with our event this year,” said Davis Malm shareholder Tony Hewett. “We are all successful business people, but if we are not properly educating the next generation, then at the end of the day we really haven’t accomplished anything!”

Mr. Stergios opened the program with an overview of the Massachusetts education system and how it has evolved over the past 20 years. He focused mainly on charter schools, stressing key factors under consideration by the Baker Administration to help improve and shape education in the years to come.

Mr. Vana shared a brief history of Berklee College of Music and outlined how the college has progressed over the years. He noted that Berklee graduates have received over 250 Grammy awards, and he highlighted the college’s entrepreneurial focus, its expanding global reach, and its future initiatives over the next few years.

The program concluded with a performance by two talented Berklee College of Music students, singer/songwriter Callie Huber and singer/guitarist Nigel Tay. Both students entertained guests with acoustical guitars, and Callie provided an impressive vocal performance of both original and cover songs which 91fused rock and soul.
