Davis Malm attorney Samuel B. (Sandy) Moskowitz has been elected to the Board of Directors of Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS). Since originally being founded in 1900 as the Boston Legal Aid Society, GBLS’s mission has been to provide high-quality legal representation to low-income individuals and families in the Greater Boston area and to advocate for systemic change to alleviate the conditions of poverty. Among other responsibilities, board members determine organizational goals and policies and oversee the overall financial management of the organization. Mr. Moskowitz is a Real Estate/Litigation attorney with over a quarter century of experience. He started his practice as a legal services attorney with the then Birmingham Area Legal Services Corp. in Birmingham, Alabama (where he is still licensed). Sandy is currently a member of the Boston Bar Association Council and the BBA’s Public Service Committee. He is past Chair of the BBA Real Estate Section (1993-1995) and its Condominium and Cooperative Committee (1991-1993). He has also served on the Section’s Steering Committee, as the BBA’s appointee on the Land Court Committee on Registered Land Guidelines and for ten years served as Co-chair of the BBA’s Real Estate Pro Bono Committee, which created and operates the Lawyer for the Day Program at the Boston Housing Court. In recognition of this work, in 2000, Mr. Moskowitz received the Denis Maguire Pro Bono Award and in 2006, the Adams Pro Bono Publico Award from the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
