Davis Malm attorney George A. Hewett participated in an America East Conference for SBA Lenders in Newport, RI, on August 26-28, 2007. The conference covered topics including the current status and future of the SBA lending program, new services being offered at SBA lending centers, the how-tos of getting banks involved in SBA lending, demystifying SBA policies and procedures, and general guidelines that every SBA lender should know and understand. Mr. Hewett discussed the specifics of loan documentation and lender responsibility in connection with the sale of an SBA Guaranteed loan in the Secondary Market. In addition to having extensive experience in handling all phases of commercial lending transactions, Mr. Hewett is a United States Small Business Administration approved specialist in closing and servicing SBA loan transactions and has acted as lender’s counsel on approximately 1,600 transactions in the past twenty-one years.
