George A. Hewett Moderates Seminar at Build Northeast Conference

On September 8, Davis Malm shareholder George A. "Tony" Hewett served as a moderator for the Build Northeast Conference seminar “504 Closing Issues.” The seminar was hosted by the National Association of Development Companies and focused on the common errors that are seen in closing packages. The panel was comprised of Mark O’Brien, Mary Russell and Robert Welch, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) District Counsels for Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, respectively.

The Build Northeast Conference is a two-day event designed to educate attendees on today’s tools needed to create successful economic development projects. The various sessions focused on transitions in economic development, leveraging grant opportunities, and financial opportunities through the SBA. Attendees included professionals from federal, state, regional, and local governments as well as chambers of commerce, banks, venture capitalists, professional service firms, construction companies, and architects from all over the Northeast.

Tony Hewett practices in the Business Law area. He focuses his practice in commercial lending, real estate finance, and public finance. He has extensive experience in handling all phases of commercial lending transactions, including closings, portfolio management activities and workouts involving bankruptcy, litigation and liquidation of assets through foreclosure and/or secured party sales. Mr. Hewett is also an U.S. SBA approved specialist in closing and servicing SBA loan transactions including the 7(a) SBA guaranteed loan program. He has worked extensively in the SBA 504 Program for Economic Development, is a designated attorney for closing 504 loans, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of New England Certified Development Corporation.
