Tamsin R. Kaplan Serves as Faculty Member at MBA CLE Program on Employment and Business Litigation Matters

On February 25, Davis Malm shareholder Tamsin R. Kaplan presented “Employment Law Essentials” as part of the Massachusetts Bar Association's Continuing Legal Education program, "Lifecycle of a Business Part III: Employment & Business Litigation Matters." The presentation was part of the Business Law Section Council's four-part educational series on establishing, operating and concluding Massachusetts business entities, and addressed the broad spectrum of legal and practical issues confronted by businesses at each stage of their development. The program was designed for experienced business lawyers, as well as new practitioners, and focused on common legal problems related to employment and commercial litigation. Ms. Kaplan discussed topics such as wage claims and independent contractor issues, drafting employee handbooks, negotiation of severance agreements, wrongful termination and discrimination claims, and traps for the unwary employer in offer letters, contracts and workplace management.

Tamsin R. Kaplan practices in the Business Law, Employment, and Litigation areas. She represents parties involved in business and employment disputes and other civil litigation matters in state and federal courts and agencies. She frequently conducts workplace investigations and trainings on diversity, harassment, and other topics. Ms. Kaplan has extensive experience representing businesses, executives, and other high level professionals on a full range of employment-relates issues, including recruitment, hiring, discrimination, negotiation of employment agreements, breach of contract, non-competes, discipline, and termination. Ms. Kaplan has been on the Labor and Employment Curriculum Advisory Committee of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education since 2010, and is the author of the chapter on Employment Agreements in Advising Massachusetts Businesses, a book published by MCLE in 2011. She is distinguished by Chambers USA as a "Leading Lawyer", has been included for several years in the list of Massachusetts Super Lawyers, and was selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2014.
