Davis Malm Submits Comments to Cannabis Control Commission Regarding Proposed Regulations

In late December 2017, the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) issued proposed regulations that would govern the sale, use, and marketing of recreational marijuana in Massachusetts. In early February, the CCC held ten days of public hearing throughout Massachusetts, addressing questions and concerns and debating issues raised by the public, elected officials, industry associations, and advocates. The CCC set February 15 as the final date to submit written comments by so that final regulations could be promulgated by March 15. Licenses are due to be issued on June 1, so that businesses can be prepared to open on the CCC’s self-imposed July 1 target date.

Davis Malm’s Cannabis Law practice group attended several public hearings and offered its written comments to the CCC. The firm identified eight specific areas in the proposed regulations that warranted clarification or additional consideration before the CCC promulgated final regulations on March 15.
