On May 13, Davis Malm shareholder Robert J. Munnelly, Jr. moderated a roundtable breakfast discussion at the 22nd Annual New England Energy Conference and Exposition hosted by the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA). The informal discussion centered on current retail energy issues and specifically focused on the significant developments in Connecticut and Massachusetts agency proceedings relative to rule changes and enforcement. Mr. Munnelly also served on the planning committee for the conference panel, “Empowering Consumer Choice: Unleashing Innovative Retail Energy Solutions.”

This two-day conference focuses on the most pressing energy issues impacting New England, including energy reliability, retail choice, infrastructure, financing, and environmental impact.

NECA is New England’s oldest and most broadly-based, non-profit trade association serving the competitive electric power industry. Its purpose is to facilitate an open forum among all electric power stakeholders to foster the development and maturation of competitive power markets.

Mr. Munnelly practices in the Regulatory and Administrative Law area and has extensive experience with legal, regulatory, and local taxation issues faced by energy, cable television, and telecommunications companies in New England and nationally. His practice in these areas includes representing companies in all six New England states in obtaining utility commission and local licenses, ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable state, local, and federal laws, advocating for changes in existing regulatory requirements and market design, obtaining approvals or disclosing corporate change transactions and transfers, and supporting permitting and development of renewable and conventional energy projects and related contracts, and installation of communications facilities. Mr. Munnelly has served as the co-chair of the NECA Retail Markets Committee since 2014.
